16 week appointment

Posted on December 24, 2014 by wildreader

Notice the title is not ultrasound. I feel like the appointment was a trick. They checked the heart rate and sent me for a quad screen, the results of which I have to wait for the State of California to send in the mail. No ultrasound. No measurements. I could have bought a Doppler at WalMart and obtained the same information. And the quad screen? They must get something from the state, because I already had the NIPT, which is more accurate for trisomies, and will have an anatomy check at 20 weeks, which will note if there’s a spinal problem. If I could go back to that moment, I’d refuse the quad screen, but, of course, the doctor did not tell me I could refuse it. It’s like they want to torture me with made up odds, largely based on my age. If I can resist, I’m just going to stick the results in a drawer when they come.
