Day 3 Embryo Transfer

Posted on September 22, 2014April 4, 2018 by wildreader

Three embryos transferred on day three. The embryos look better this cycle. We even have one that looks perfect – 8 cells with no fragmentation. The others are 6 and 9 cells. Really hoping one takes. There aren’t any frozen embryos this time around. The embryos that weren’t transferred didn’t make it.

Egg Retrieval (#2)

Posted on September 17, 2014April 4, 2018 by wildreader

11 eggs retrieved, 8 mature, 6 fertilized. They’re planning a 5 day transfer. I’m worried because the embryos developed poorly last time, there is one fewer embryo than last time, and what do I do if day 5 gets here and none of the embryos made it? They said they’ll look at them on day…

Second IVF

Posted on September 12, 2014 by wildreader

Even though I said I wasn’t going to, I decided on a second IVF cycle with a different clinic. Yay for home equity loans…. A couple couples we know had success with this clinic, so we’re hoping we will, too. Things I’m not impressed with thus far: ordering inadequate quantities of meds, an unwieldy spreadsheet…

IUIs

Posted on July 28, 2014 by wildreader

I had three donor sperm IUIs – two on Clomid and one with Menopur. None of them were timed well. For the third, with Menopur, I ovulated on my own, 36 hours prior to insemination. (Hello, dipsh-ts, quit wasting my d-mn money!) I am so angry. The monitoring doctor said I might ovulate on my…

don’t tell me how fertile you are

Posted on April 3, 2014 by wildreader

On the heels of our failed frozen embryo transfer cycle, I got a message from an extended family member (she is biologically unrelated – my husband’s side of the family is quite complicated) offering to be a surrogate and/or donate eggs if needed. I know this young woman is fertile, as she just had her…

Frozen Embryo Transfer

Posted on March 25, 2014April 4, 2018 by wildreader

My frozen embryo transfer was on March 20. The quality of the embryo (or, more specifically, the day six blastocyst) was still 2AB, although the doctor said they’d changed their grading criteria since it was originally graded. He didn’t say whether it was better. (Usually they are worse after defrost.) Today is 5dp6dt and I…

Deciding to do the frozen embryo transfer

Posted on October 30, 2013 by wildreader

The doctor won’t combine an IUI with FET. He says the success rate with a 2AB day 6 frozen embryo is 25%. I think he’s blowing smoke. Everything I’ve read puts the success rate just over 10%, and that’s if it survives the thaw. I would get some of my money back if it doesn’t…

Failed Cycle

Posted on September 25, 2013 by wildreader

$14,000 + 54 injections + 119 pills + operation = negative pregnancy test I did a home pregnancy test yesterday, 11dp3dt (11 days post 3 day transfer), and it was negative, so I was expecting the blood test to show the same, and it did. I’ve also been having my normal period-is-coming symptoms, starting yesterday,…

Frozen Embryo

Posted on September 19, 2013 by wildreader

The nurse called yesterday to tell me one of the embryos actually made it to day 6, so they froze it. I asked about the rating, and she said it is 2AB. The “AB” part is good. The “2” part is not as good (on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the best), BUT,…

Embryo Transfer, Day 3

Posted on September 13, 2013April 5, 2018 by wildreader

The embryo transfer was pretty painless. I didn’t even feel the catheters go in.The embryo quality…is not good. We had two 6 cell grade 3 embryos. The rest were 2-5 cells with very high fragmentation. The doctor transferred the three best embryos – the two 6 cell (top of photo) and one 5 cell (bottom…
